Because of the high cost of living in the Tri-Valley, more people are coming to Open Heart Kitchen for emergency food than ever before. We depend greatly on the generosity of our neighbors in the community to keep food on the shelves of our food pantries.

 
 
 

We prepare over 500 meals a day.  We appreciate food donations made in bulk. The types of items that are in greatest demand are:

  • Canned Fruit Cocktail
  • Canned Pineapple
  • Canned Tuna Fish
  • Canned Vienna sausages
  • Canned Green Beans
  • Canned Diced Tomatoes
  • Canned Corn
  • Canned Carrots
  • Canned Red Kidney Beans
  • Canned Garbanzo Beans
  • Canned All Blend vegetables
  • canned baby corn
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • Cream of Chicken Soup
  • Cream of Celery Soup
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • White and Red Wine Vinegar
  • Water chestnuts
  • Tomato soup
  • Enchilada Sauce
  • Whole wheat pasta
  • Brown rice
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Turkey/Chicken stuffing/dressing
  • Green Chili Verde
  • Salsa
  • Egg Noodles
  • Miscellaneous Juices
  • V8 or drinks with veggie juice
  • Brown Sugar
  • Boxed Scallop Potatoes
  • Boxed Au Gratin
  • Boxed Instant Mashed Potatoes
  • Powerbars (or similar)
  • Decaf Coffee
  • Individual serving packets of COFFEE-MATE coffee creamer
  • Decaf single serving tea bags

Commercial sized cans may be purchased at Costco and Smart and Final.

For the children in need weekend "Box Lunch" Program the following items are needed.

  • 4 oz juice boxes
  • Ritz Cheese and Crackers
  • Granola and Nutri-Grain bars.
  • Single serving fruit cups or apple sauce. Such as Dole and Treetop

  • Paper Towels
  • Paper Cups and Plates
  • Plastic Utensils

Cleaning products

(preferably environmentally friendly)

  • Bleach
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Dish Washing Soap
  • Hand Soap
